Kitchen remodel

The Kitchen is over half done. We have to finish the ceiling and floor and the kick board on the cabinets. We'll get the back splash finished and do crown moulding(sp?). Sheila found a great granite company, "Minnesota Custom Stoneworks" 651-777-7674. The install on the Granite took about 2 hours, partially because the Granite had to warm up for the epoxy to hold. Next were on to the main bathroom plumbing and setting the tub and Sheila will be grouting and then painting the main bathroom.

Overdue Update

For the last two weeks we have been fine tuning the Kitchen cabinets, finishing tiling in the master bathroom, and finished up the utility room. In essence the utility room is brand new! Now that it is finished we can move on to other rooms. We have video and pictures enroute, but I'm waiting for the Granite that goes in the kitchen Monday morning. That should really finish off the kitchen except for the flooring and ceiling. More soon to come......

3rd week of January

We installed most of the cabinets in the kitchen. We left some uninstalled so we could have more space to move lumber and other construction material in. Sheila has been working on the master bathroom tiling and I have worked on finishing some Electrical that needs to be done, like the washer and dryer downstairs, the hot water heater and the new service for the Jacuzzi in the main bathroom. I also am finishing up the hard wiring on the furnaces.

Tiling-Furnaces

Sheila has been busy Tiling the downstairs bathroom floor and the masterbath room shower. We finally found someone reasonable to install the furnaces. With the weather so cold, he could not finish last Friday, so he will have to come back this week. In the mean time the furnaces are doing a great job of keeping us and house warm as it has been below zero most of the last 3-4 days.

1st part of January 2008

We're still doing the putsy stuff. Sheila was removing the tile in the downstairs bathroom and one of the tiles flung into the shower door and shattered it, oops. Mom and Dad stopped by to check out the progress, they are the 1st visitors since we started working on the house.

Week 5 thru New years day

It's been a very busy week for us, but the pictures and video don't show it. We had to almost rewire the whole Kitchen because the wires were going to the wrong places, like the new oven, or were not buried in the walls. The cellulose insulation was a hassle to work with as we were taking down the soffits in the Kitchen and then putting up new recessed lighting. We insulated below the floor on the outside walls and insulated what we could in the ceiling. The flooring is all level now, there were holes and drop outs where the cabinets were. The ceiling is now sheetrocked and we are ready to vapor barrier and install the wall sheetrock. Still waiting for another furnace bid. We have many of the faucets being shipped in as I write and Sheila picked up the tile for the main bathroom. The rolloff is almost full! To give you perspective it is about 6' tall and about 20' long and it's packed. We'll still have to haul 1 or 2 horse trailers full of stuff to the dump.
